What “lifetime” means here

• It keeps working when we don't. Licence verification is a local signature check. There is no server to call. If we go dark tomorrow, TokenGem on your machine does not notice.
• Twelve months of 1.x updates are included, including upstream version bumps that have passed the regression suite. After that, updates are an optional $29-a-year renewal. The software you have keeps working, forever and offline, whether or not you renew.
• A 2.0, if there ever is one, is a separate purchase, at an upgrade price, published before you are asked to pay it. We are telling you this now, before you buy, rather than later.
• Moving machines is self-serve: deactivate in the app, or from a web page reachable with your key alone, no login. You get one device more than you paid for, as transient overage, because a dead laptop is not a licence violation.
• If we stop developing TokenGem, we publish ninety days' notice, downloads and key resends stay up for at least twenty-four months, and the last release keeps working forever, offline. That is written down on the sunset page, not implied.

On a Claude Max or ChatGPT plan?

Then TokenGem is probably not for you in dollar terms. Your bill is flat; token reduction buys you usage headroom, not money, and the report will compare your sessions in tokens rather than dollars once you mark the host plan-billed with tokengem billing claude plan. Questions

Isn't this just a wrapper around three free tools?

Yes. They are free, they stay free, and they are credited on this site and in every build. What is not free is a correct merge order between them, a measurement of what they did to your bill, and one button that puts your machine back exactly as it was. If you would rather do it by hand, tokengem doctor is free and will still tell you what is colliding.

How do I know the conflict is real before I pay?

Do not take our word for it. tokengem doctor is free forever, offline, on any machine, reads your actual settings and plugin registry, and names every hook registration and every event with more than one owner, including the ones a scan of the settings file alone would miss.

What happens when Claude Code updates and breaks the hook?

It will, and we say so. The Status view has a one-click repair; upstream version bumps are gated by a regression suite before they reach you; both are covered by the twelve months of updates in your purchase, and the changelog shows each one.

What happens to my settings file?

It is snapshotted before a single byte is written. tokengem uninstall restores the exact prior file, and there is a test named for it. Nothing outside TokenGem's own directory and the agent settings it manages is ever touched.

Does anything leave my machine?

One optional daily device check when licensed: a hash of the key, a device id, the version and the operating system, so seats can be counted. Never a command, a path, a repository name or any content. The privacy page lists every byte, and tokengem privacy --device-check off turns it off.

I am on a Claude Pro or Max plan.

Do I need an account? Do you keep my email?

No account. A key. The download link and the key resend never expire, and the key is in the body of the receipt email so you can find it in three years by searching your inbox. The issuer keeps the purchase email so the key can be resent, and never uses it for anything else.
